WHEAT CROP LOOKING TO BE BIG

Oklahoma could see a bountiful wheat crop this harvest based on early estimates. The crop is expected to total 130.6 million bushels, according to reports presented recently at the annual Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association's meeting in Oklahoma City. The average yield is expected to be 34 bushels per acre. PRAIRIE VIEW STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL CONTEST

Fourth graders at Prairie View Elementary School got star treatment after their video entry won the national Panasonic Kids Witness News video competition. ENID STUDENT WINS CASH AWARD

With her idea to address the needs of foster children in her community, middle school student Lauren Anderson, has won the grand prize of this year’s Love’s Creative SPARKS! Award. Anderson, of Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid, created an organization known as "Foster Feet" whose goal is to raise awareness and collect shoes for foster children. That idea was rewarded with a $1000 for her and $1500 for her school to keep her initiative going. [...]

NEW FITNESS CENTER OPEN

Enid residents have more options to get fit. The Planet Fitness franchise opened a new club location at 802 W. Broadway in Enid, the former locations of Function Junction and City Boots. Dandy's Donuts, Deli, Delights took home the $10,000 prize and a year of business services Monday by winning the Cherokee Strip Business Model competition. The new restaurant won over the judges with its plans to serve doughnuts, soups, salads, sandwiches, gourmet coffee and gelato when it opens later this fall next to the Walmart Neighborhood Market at Cleveland and Chestnut. KOCH FERTILIZER GIVES UPDATE

Enid Rotary Club heard an update on the Koch Fertilizer plant expansion Monday. Among the expansion components is infrastructure to process water discharged from the city’s wastewater treatment plant, Koch Fertilizer Plant Manager Marc Hoss said.
