ENID, Okla. — Chance Cecil said receiving a Small Business Renovation Grant from Enid Regional Development Alliance has been a big boon for his newly opened business.
“Its been a great deal,” Cecil said at his business, Powder Coating Services, 601 N. 2nd, on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. “For every small business owner, it’s tight, especially in the beginning, and it saved us from having to invest more money in the company just by getting this grant.”
The roughly $7,500 grant paid for half of cost of the fire suppression system he had installed.
Powder Coating Services has been open for about two months, Cecil said.
“I’ve had a business in Enid before. It was an oil field service company,” he said. “When the oil field went down so roughly I had to kind of pivot and do something different. This came to my attention, and I though it was going to be a good thing to get started in for the future. As far as powder coating goes, it’s becoming really popular.”
He and his brother Taylor are the only employees now.
“It’s been really good,” Cecil said of the business they’ve generated. “We’ve had a lot of momentum, but we’ve had some setbacks, too. It’s taken us about a year to get open, so we lost a bit of momentum, but we’re starting to capture that back now.”
Powder Coating Services specializes in powder coating applications that protect and enhance metal products. The company provides protective coatings, decorative finishes and custom solutions tailored to meet customer specifications.
“Right now, we’ve got a lot of private mom and pop-type things that we’re doing, and that’s keeping us busy, but we hope to have an industrial footprint where we’re doing a lot of big mechanical parts and different things like that, with some of the other small businesses around Enid,” Cecil said.
The ERDA grant helped him in completing his renovation and obtaining a certificate of occupancy.
“Supporting entrepreneurs like Chance who are investing in Enid’s industrial and small business landscape is central to ERDA’s mission,” said Marcie Mack, executive director of Enid Regional Development Alliance. “Powder Coating Services is adding valuable capacity to our local manufacturing and service sector while revitalizing a downtown property.”
The fire suppression system was installed in the spray booths, Cecil said. If a fire should happen as they apply powder, the system will create a wall of water to keep the fire contained.
