Koch Fertilizer Gives to Enid Fire Department

Koch Fertilizer has given $5,000 to Enid Fire Department to replace aging and outdated rescue equipment.

It specifically will be used for rope rescue and high-angle rescue, EFD training officer Justin McAlister said before a check presentation Monday afternoon.

“We’re going to buy new devices. The technology has changed in that one piece of equipment can now replace four,” he said.

Items to be purchased will include three multi-purpose devices, four rescue harnesses, four rescue helmets with headlamp attachments and various lengths of rescue rope.

Koch Fertilizer safety and security manager Shon Jackson thanked the department for its continual help at the plant. The department also helped with a recent drill.

“We just can’t thank you guys enough for everything that you guys do for us out there,” he said.

 Koch Fertilizer human resources leader Andrea Jurgensmeyer said the fire department’s help at the plant is appreciated, but all the department does in the community is valued as well.

“It’s a nice gesture from a community partner, and the relationship is one of the best we have,” Fire Chief Joe Jackson said.
