The registration deadline is approaching for an Autry Technology Center course that begins with students being hired for a new job.
Aircraft Structures International Corp. (ASIC) and Autry Tech are teaming up for the airframe structures technology course, which offers selected students an opportunity to be hired at ASIC and be paid while studying airframe repairs.
This airframe structures course was developed for entry-level sheet metal workers, according to an Autry Tech press release. Students will learn the basics of aircraft structural repairs on Cessna Caravan aircraft.
The classes match ASIC’s schedule, which consists of a four-day, 10-hour per day work week. All tools will be provided during training, but students must provide their own lockable tool box. Once training is complete, each technician must supply their own hand tools.
Enrollment in the course and hiring by ASIC requires a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
ASIC and Autry will interview applicants to determine enrollment in the course and training will begin July 10.
ASIC employs 70 workers and was awarded the Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb’s Small Business Award of Excellence in 2016.
