ENID, Okla. — More than a dozen schools and industry leaders gathered at Enid Woodring Regional Airport for Student Aero Day, Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The event is an immersive educational experience designed to connect high school students with aviation and aerospace career opportunities. The event was hosted by Enid Regional Development Alliance in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics.
The event welcomed participation from 275 students and instructors from 16 high schools and 16 aerospace vendors, giving students a chance to interact with professionals from across the aviation industry. From maintenance and engineering, to piloting and manufacturing, the day showcased the range of career paths available in one of Oklahoma’s fastest-growing sectors.
A highlight of the day was a guided tour of Aircraft Structures International Corporation, where students got a behind-the-scenes look at the precision and innovation involved in aircraft manufacturing and maintenance. The event also featured aircraft and pilots from Vance Air Force Base, who provided static displays and met with students to share their experiences in military aviation.
Col. Carl F. Miller, deputy wing commander of the 71st Flying Training Wing at Vance, gave the keynote address and provided students a look into his background and love of aviation.
“This event was a huge success in helping students envision themselves in careers they might not have considered before,” said Marcie Mack, ERDA executive director. “We’re proud to partner with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics to bring these opportunities directly to the next generation of aerospace professionals.”
