The oldest continuously operating licensed real estate company in Oklahoma, Nicholas Commercial Real Estate and Management has its fingerprints all over Enid by way of developing and managing many of the city’s most iconic commercial buildings, shopping centers and residential neighborhoods.
It was only after 41 years in the grocery business that Nick Nicholas started the real estate firm in 1955 with his two sons Bud and Jim. Today their sons and grandsons, along with 20 dedicated employees, carry on that enterprising spirit, focused primarily on retail development. The company’s reach now extends well beyond Enid, from Altus to Claremore and everywhere in between. But Bud and his son Buddy insist the headquarters will always remain in Enid. “This is just a really nice place to live,” Bud says.
While the community’s attributes include outstanding schools, top-notch medical services, a strong banking sector that supports community growth, and progressive leaders and engaged citizens willing to re-invest in infrastructural improvements like upgrades to the airport, streets, water lines and utilities, he credits its biggest draw to something more fundamental.
“Wherever you live, it’s about the people,” Bud says. “Good people you enjoy doing business with—that’s what we are blessed to have here.”
