Merry Christmas! As I look back over 2019, it has been a year of laying foundations for many grand openings to come in 2020. Our retail sector is experiencing a re-birth that we have worked towards for a decade. The District is a remarkable example of infill redevelopment. This 18-acre tract will include a Hideaway Pizza, a Colton’s Steakhouse, a modern Jiffy Trip, 33,000sf of retail/office space, and space for a movie theater. In addition, the former Kmart building is under redevelopment for multiple new retailers. And finally, the new West Enid Marketplace at Garland and Hwy 412 includes an 8500sf Jiffy Trip, and room for up to 14,000sf of retail and restaurant space.
Other developments such as the state of the art soccer complex will bring hundreds of families to town to play soccer in Enid, to eat in our restaurants, and to stay in our hotels. Likewise, the downtown convention center hotel will open in 2020 and will transform downtown Enid by bringing new visitors into the heart of our city to enjoy our local restaurants, boutiques and breweries.
The Chamber of Commerce will need to buy some extra ribbon for all of the openings we look forward to in 2020! Thank you for your support of economic development, and I’ll see you at the Grand Opening!
