Guest Speaker is Rickey Hayes with Retail Attractions
Rickey will discuss the intersection between retail development and the recruitment of primary sector jobs. Economic development today involves more than chasing smoke stacks. Business locations today are largely decided based on the availability of a trained workforce. And the employees of today base their employment decisions on whether the job is located in a place they’d like to live. Therefore, economic developers today are more and more involved in community development and workforce recruitment which directly correlate to retail development. Additionally, in the State of Oklahoma our cities are funded almost entirely off of sales tax revenue.
