Vance Air Force Base is located in Enid and pilots come from all over the country to be trained here. There is a deep partnership between Enid and Vance AFB that spans decades and has created numerous opportunities for the city, community, and those stationed here.

They recently received an award from the Oklahoma State Air Force Association. The Vance-based 71st Flying Training Wing received the Military Unit of the Year honors at an awards banquet. The award was jointly received by the team at Vance and by the City of Enid. Retired Col. Dan Ohnesorge, the AFA Chapter 214 President said, “I think that this is merely another demonstration of the close partnership enjoyed between the Enid community and Vance.”
