St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has opened a cancer center.

The cancer center is located on the second floor of the hospital campus, located at 305 S. 5th, St. Mary’s Regional Center CEO Stan Tatum said.

After long-time Enid oncologist Dr. Francisco Dexeus announced his retirement earlier this year, St. Mary’s took steps to meet the community need for cancer care services, according to a news release.

“We are pleased to welcome two hematology and medical oncology physicians — Dr. David Lam and Dr. Todd Kliewer — to St. Mary’s,” Tatum said. “Their expertise coupled with our resources and commitment to quality care will give cancer patients access to comprehensive outpatient cancer treatment.”

Lam, who grew up in Enid, received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Kliewer, who has family in Fairview, graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he received his medical degree. He completed his residency in internal medicine and completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

The skilled cancer center team, which include experienced staff from Dexeus’ office, will provide diagnosis and consultation, medical oncology and hematology, personalized treatment plan, outpatient oncology services — infusions, transfusion, chemotherapy and other support services as patients navigate their cancer journey.

“We are committed to providing a quality, compassionate cancer program for people in Northwest Oklahoma who have received a cancer diagnosis. Our program will allow patients to receive cancer care, close to home,” Tatum said.
