Academy Sports and Outdoors will open its store on West Garriott Oct. 28.

A grand opening celebration will be held Nov. 4-6, Allan Rojas, Academy Sports and Outdoors communications manager, said.

More information on the grand opening will be released in the next week or two, he said.

The store is part of a new $17 million retail center on West Garriott. The center is located on the former Wal-Mart store grounds — most recently serving as a distribution center for Atwoods Ranch and Home.

Ulta Beauty, Buckle, Famous Footwear, Maurices and Sprint also will be located in Land Run Town Center.

On Sept. 14, the center’s developer — GBT Realty Corp. — said the new 100,000-square-foot retail center is 93 percent leased.

Other retailers are being sought, but GBT Realty Corp. cannot name them at this time, said Jeff Pape, GBT Realty Corp. managing director of the shopping center division.

“Tenants are expected to start opening their doors in late October,” Pape said.
