Enid residents have more options to get fit.
The Planet Fitness franchise opened a new club location at 802 W. Broadway in Enid, the former locations of Function Junction and City Boots.
The facility has equipment for all kinds of workouts, franchise Marketing and Communications Director Mike Coffin said.
“It’s the kind of place, if you’ve never been to a fitness club before, you can feel comfortable,” he said. “There are tons of cardio equipment, strength training equipment that’s easy to use and figure out.”
The club has some free weights, but General Manager Sierra Haggerton said they don’t cater toward power lifting and bodybuilding.
“We are geared more toward fitness and general health,” she said.
The club has treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes, stationary bikes, arc trainers, stair steppers, a stretch and abdominal workout area, strength training equipment, cable towers, assisted squat and bench racks, and dumbbells and barbells, she said.
The club has a 30-minute cardio room, Coffin said.
“If you don’t have a bunch of time, it’s basically a cardio circuit that times you and gives you a red light or a green light to (advance through machines) to run through a full cardio session in just 30 minutes,” he said.
The club offers several fitness classes every day, which are free and unlimited, and a certified fitness trainer.
The club opened April 22, and Coffin said the Judgement Free Zone — where everyone can feel comfortable working out — makes the franchise unique.
“What really makes us awesome is that we create that experience with state-of-the-art equipment at a price that can’t be beat,” he said. “This is a club you expect to pay $50 a month for.”
The club offers a $10-per-month standard membership, which is charged month-to-month, with a $1 start fee; a $199 prepaid nonrefundable plan with no start fee; and the Black Card membership, a 12-month $19.99 per month with a $1 start fee.
The standard and prepaid memberships offer access to the club 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with free and unlimited fitness training.
The Black Card membership offers access to the club 24 hours a day, seven days a week, unlimited free fitness training, guest privileges at any Planet Fitness location, and use of the spa amenities: upright and lay-down tanning beds, massage chairs, hydromassage and total body enhancement to increase circulation and reduce recovery time.
The club sold memberships before opening, and Haggerton said they had about 650 memberships by the time the doors opened.
“Now we have more than 2,000 and we have been open for two or three weeks,” she said. “We have a lot of traffic in and out of the club.”
