ENID, Okla. — T&C Meats, a new specialty meats shop, will open in the spring of 2016 in Enid. Specializing in everything from beef and lamb to hand-crafted sausage and bratwurst, the business will offer a modern, friendly retail meat market experience, said one of the store’s owners and business managers, Eldon Campbell.
“People (will) feel safe about their food and where it comes from, and feel like they’ve got somebody they can come in and talk to if they need something. …” Campbell said. “Customer service is one of the big priorities as far as making sure the customer has everything they need to have a satisfactory eating experience.”
T&C Meats will focus on providing specific, quality meats for their customers, rather than the buy-in-bulk grocery store variety, said Tyler Tate, the store’s co-owner. Besides classic pork chops and chicken, Tate said the shop will provide specialized barbecue and dry-aged steaks. T&C Meats will buy its beef from Arkansas City, Kansas, and are finalizing local buyers for pork and chicken, Tate said.
Campbell and Tate have been developing the meat shop for more than a year, winning two grants from the Cherokee Strip Business Model competition last June. The $10,000 and $500 grants enabled them to acquire several pieces of equipment and begin working with architects to finalize building plans, Campbell said.
While its timeline has moved back several months, T&C Meats was willing to wait to locate in Stonebridge Village, a commercial and residential development in an exciting and high-traffic area. The development will be home to a neighborhood, apartment complex and commercial strip center, as well as the new Walmart Neighborhood Market.
