A Sears Hometown Store is expected to open in Enid this September.

James Baker, who owns the franchise, said the store will be located on North Van Buren — next to Sherwin-Williams and Dollar General — in the Mulberry Plaza Shopping Center.  “It’s not a catalog store,” he said. “It’s an actual store.”

The store will offer appliances, lawn and garden items, tools, vacuum cleaners, grills and parts in a 5,200-square-foot showroom, Baker said.  He said the store also will be able to order anything Sears offers online. Items may be shipped to a customer’s home or to the store.  There will be kiosks in the store for customers to order parts, Baker said.  The store will be the warranty point for all the Craftsman tools, he said.  Discover and Sears credit card payments also will be accepted at the store, Baker said.

“I feel great, I can’t wait. I look forward to serving Enid. I think we’ll be a great asset to the community,” he said. “It’s a locally owned Sears franchise, so it’s not like the big box store. Locally owned and operated.”

The Sears Hometown Store is his only franchise, Baker said.  He has worked in Enid for 10 years as a salesman and manager at Stevens Ford.  “I just kind of stumbled into (the franchise store), looking for a business opportunity,” Baker said. “I like dealing with the public.”

There will be approximately five to six jobs provided by the store, but the exact number has not yet been determined, he said.  Store hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
